Welcome to Santee Cooper Country, the home of Lake Marion, the largest lake in South Carolina. Lake Marion, with access to the Atlantic Ocean, offers abundant wildlife and fabulous views. Golfers, water enthusiasts, bird watchers, fishermen, and folks who love boating have discovered Santee-Cooper Country and many have made it their home. We would like to invite you to visit one or all of our church homes while you are visiting this area. There are three Catholic churches in the area, and all are listed herein. The historic St. Mary’s Church, Summerton, was founded in 1914 by Lebanese immigrants who came as businessmen to Summerton near the end of the century.
