The parish of St. Ann joyfully began its celebration of the Feast of St. Ann on July 17 with nine days of novenas, leading up to a beautiful and spirit-filled evening on Friday, July 25. The culmination of this sacred devotion included Mass, the unveiling of a newly dedicated shrine to St. Ann, and an evening of shared fellowship over a community meal.
The Mass was celebrated by visiting priest Fr. Linsky from Columbia, who served as the lead celebrant. He was joined by Fr. Artur (Kingstree), Fr. Bosco (Florence), Fr. Gaspar (North Augusta), Fr. Sebastian (Australia), and our own Fr. Antony from Santee. The presence of these priests and their collective prayer added great richness to the occasion, making it a truly memorable event for our parish.
St. Ann, the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandmother of Jesus, is venerated as a model of steadfast faith, devotion, and family life. Her feast day invites the faithful to reflect on her vital role in salvation history and to seek her intercession in their own spiritual journeys.
A highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the parish’s new shrine to St. Ann, lovingly constructed by the St. Ann’s Men’s Group. The shrine features a beautifully restored statue of St. Ann with the child Mary, a work of devotion and care completed by parishioner Janet Michalic.
The Feast of St. Ann was a true celebration of community, tradition, and faith—an occasion that brought hearts together in gratitude and reverence. We give thanks for everyone who contributed to this beautiful celebration and look forward to many more years of honoring our beloved patroness.
